Custom Orthotics
Custom foot orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look similar to insoles, but are biomedical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot while you walk. We understand that everyone is different, which is why custom foot orthotics are made just for you.

Surgical Corrections of Foot Disorders
In most cases, invasive methods are not necessary to correct many foot disorders. Though in more extreme conditions, surgery may be required. The need for surgery will depend on the severity of the condition, the amount of pain the patient is experiencing, and the patient’s past response to various treatments.
Fillers For Foot Pain
Dermal filler treatments are commonly used to slow down the aging process of the skin. These treatments are predominantly used in the face; however medical aesthetics has advanced to using these products elsewhere on the body, with one effective place being in the feet.
Dermal fillers are mainly comprised of a naturally occurring sugar in the body called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Hyaluronic Acid is commonly present within our body from our skin to our eyes and joints. Hyaluronic Acid helps to add volume and hydration. The treatment is soft, safe, and non-permanent, results are immediate and typically last 6-9 months. The advantages of the HA fillers are that they are suitable for all skin types and require no pre-treatment skin test. Dr. Nemrow uses Juvederm® Ultra which contains .3% Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, making the injection process far more gentle. Juvederm®Ultra is non-animal, naturally based, highly purified and biodegradable. If for any reason you do not like your filler results, it can be reversed with the use of hyaluronidase, which will quickly and gently breakdown the filler.
Over the past several years, HA fillers have been found so safe and effective that we can avoid surgical procedures of certain foot problems and use them in the feet. Treatment of a painful , bony hammertoe that has lost its padding is now simple and easy to treat. HA fillers are also very effective on severely deep corns that have developed on the bottom of the feet. These corns, also called Intractable Plantar Keratoses, previously were only able to be treated with visits to the podiatrist every three weeks. Now using fillers under the corn can significantly decrease pain and may eradicate the corn for several years.
For the feet, dermal fillers can be used to provide cushioning for the balls and heels of the feet and to treat many types of foot pain:
- Morton’s Neuroma – Flat Feet
- Foot Pad Atrophy
- Painful Corns
- Calluses
- Hammertoes or those Areas of Bony Prominence
- High Heel Pain – Do you love wearing your high heels? So do we !
Fillers can provide much needed comfort by padding the ball of the foot and protecting your soft tissue, nerves, bones and joints from repeated stress. HA fillers are a wonderful addition to our treatment options, offering safe, comfortable results with a minimum of downtime. Although using HA filler is a conservative approach you will need a consultation with Dr. Nemrow prior to the procedure. Please call and schedule your complimentary consultation today and be on your way to a foot pain free day!

Toenail Fungus Laser Treatment
There are millions of people struggling with debilitating toenail fungus on a daily basis. Several past treatments have not been very successful in eradicating this stubborn infection. Some of these other methods included costly oral medications that had the potential to damage the liver and kidney. Dr. Nemrow is pleased to be the first in Marin County to offer this new advanced laser medical treatment to eradicate toe nail fungus.
The laser kills the fungus that lives under the toenail. The laser light passes through the toenail without causing damage to the nail or surrounding skin and vaporizes the fungus. This reduces the cause of the disfigured nail.
The clinical studies have shown topical medication to work 13% of the time, oral medication, 50% of the time and laser to work between 79-83% of the time.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
The laser light beam does not harm the nail or the surrounding tissue. The treatment is painless, therefore there is no need for anesthesia.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The treatment takes about 20 minutes and usually requires just 1 treatment.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE IMPROVEMENTS?
Usually a toenail grows out completely in 9-12 months. Healthy new growth will be visible after the 3rd to 4th month after the procedure.
IS THE TREATMENT SAFE?
Yes. In clinical studies, no safety issues or side effects have been observed.
ADVANTAGE OF LASER:
- Pain Free
- No Systemic Side Effects (as possible with oral medication)
- Usually Only One Treatment Needed
